Landscape Testing and Consultancy
We work closely with our clients to understand the condition of their existing landscape through a range of testing and visual observations. We define goals and objectives, working towards these through the application of regenerative principles.
Whether you manage a small back garden or larger scale farm, if you are interested in learning more about applying regenerative principles to your landscape, get in touch to book an initial site visit.
Our consultation fees are £65/hr
For a smaller landscape, it usually requires 2-3 hours of time over the duration of a project.
For larger scale landscapes, an estimate can be given once the initial scope of the project has been confirmed.
Soil Testing
Below is our suite of tests that we have available through local laboratories and our trusted UK partners. We can also set up a bespoke suite depending on the landscape and criteria.
Site Visit, Sampling & Report – from £195
Site visit to collect samples and record observations, packing and postage of samples, with preparation and delivery of a detailed report & recommendations. Applicable to all testing undertaken. Not including specific sample analysis as detailed below, which are priced per sample
Soil Food Web Accredited Biological Analysis – £65
Performed by The Soil Farm to determine the biological profile and suited function of the land or soil being worked.
Soil Life Monitor Analysis – £255
Performed in conjunction with our lab partners, this analysis measures phospholipid fatty acids (PLFA). By measuring and quantifying the PLFAs, it is possible to obtain a fingerprint of the soil food web, describing the condition of the biological cycle and function of the soil
Basic Soil Analysis – £40
A simple analysis to determine pH and available macro nutrients in the soil.
Gold Assessment Soil Analysis – £275
A comprehensive test designed to better understand the chemistry of the soil, including the mineral profile and availability, the active pH, organic matter and carbon.
This test serves as a valuable benchmark from which to base decisions and record progress. This work is undertaken in conjunction with our trusted UK based lab partner
Sap Analysis – £155
A test to measure the nutrients readily available within the plant (similar to a human blood test). This gives us an accurate review of what is required by the plant, before deficiency symptoms are visible.
Heavy Metals – £140
Testing for presence and levels of potentially toxic elements in the soil, which is especially important in food and grazing applications. We typically test for Copper, Zinc, Cadmium, Lead, Nickel, Mercury, Chromium, Molybdenum, Selenium, Arsenic, Fluoride
Pesticide Screening – £195
Our comprehensive test screens for over 400 commercial pesticides, fungicides and herbicides in soil or produce samples – this does not include Glyphosate or acidic herbicides which we test for separately
Glyphosate Only – £235
Perhaps indicative of the prevalence of glyphosate usage, it has a test all of its own 🙁
We test for residual glyphosate in soil or produce samples
Acidic Herbicides Only – £230
Testing for the prevalence of clopyralid and other acidic herbicides. Clopyralid is another persistent toxic chemical which is very widely used, especially in horse feeds and bedding. This is most common in composts and soils that have been mixed with horse manures.
Landscape Consultancy
We apply a number of different principles in our consultancy work to encompass a truly holistic framework that takes into account not only the land function, but the people who engage with it, the environmental impact and future generations.
Consultancy time is charged at £65 per hour.
Applications
More often than not, Soil that has been worked to any extent will have been depleted in some way needing a little help in the right direction.
We offer a number of inoculation applications and amendments to return biology and nutrients back where they should be. We build our own ‘super stack’ composts for specialist extract applications, taking the best of the product into a liquid suspension that is applied to the soil. A little can go a very long way.
We also offer a number of biological applications from trusted companies to target specific areas of concern. Understanding your soils current position is key to knowing which applications are suitable. We are here to answer any questions, better still book a site visit using the link above.
Price of applications depends entirely on individual sites and are quoted on after an initial site visit.
